Structuring Your Keynote Speech

Writing your keynote speech for the first time may be a little bit difficult, that’s why you should need to do research and look through examples of drafted speeches in order to properly write your speech. A keynote speaker knows exactly what they must discuss once they have gathered all the necessary information about the event, the main topic and the guest and audience members who are invited to that said function. It is important to carefully structure the speech which you will be providing in order for your audience members to fully understand what exactly you want them to learn and know. Read below as how a keynote speaker should structure their speech and presentation properly.

Providing A Feeling Of Confidence For The Audience – The audience members needs to have full confidence in the keynote speaker that he/she fully understands and knows exactly what they are doing. This way, the guests and audience members will have faith to believe and fully absorb what the speaker is discussing and teaching them. Structuring a speech or presentation properly ensures the audience that there is a valid point to the discussion that you are providing them so they must in turn listen attentively.

To Follow The Presentation Properly – A keynote speaker needs their audience to follow their discussion in order for them not to easily get confused. The speaker must know how to highlight the key points of their presentation in order for everyone in the audience to know which data or information is crucial to learn about or to absorb. The best way for a speaker to do this is to use a projector to show the audience a list of the key subject areas on which they have to always remember and bear in mind so that they may be able to learn from it and apply in unto their daily routine.

Enumerating The Different Topics And Sub Topics Beforehand – The keynote speaker should always remember to tell the audience initially as to what they will be discussing throughout the duration of the event. The audience needs to brace themselves and learn what the speaker has to discuss in order for them to know firsthand the topics and sub topics the speaker will tackle in their discussion. The audience also needs to know at first as to why these subject areas are important for them to learn and know.

Any Questions? - There is always a part in a keynote speaker’s presentation in which the audience has a turn to ask the speaker about their discussion. This is usually done at the end of their discussion to make sure that the audience has fully understood what the speaker has discussed. In this part the different questions that the audience has to ask need to be in connection with the speaker’s discussion in order for the host and the organizers to know if the audience has truly been paying attention throughout the entire presentation of the speaker.

This approach can greatly help them for in a way they are profiling the individuals sitting in the crowd and little by little get to know who they are truly dealing with thus making it easy for them to motivate and convince them thoroughly.

Subtle Approach – The motivational speaker encourages and motivates their audience in a subtle way and explains their point in every possible way for each member of the crowd to understand. This is a great approach for motivators however it takes an enormous amount of time for them to get through to their audience. They only apply this kind of technique when they have a lot of time on their schedule like a 2-3 day seminar or training. They need to break down their discussion to fit that time period thus making this approach effective.
